Getting this connection has the app's logs showing a connection as well ('server starting up' / 'connection established to.' ) Just tried telnetting to 'localhost 119' and I get a - yes Usenet. Also run 'netstat -a' and see if anything is listed as being in a listening state on port 119. Also try 'telnet localhost 119' and see if you get a connection on that.

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.ĮTA - OP - may be worth a try to disable the IPv6 binding on the network interface properties. This functionality must be built directly into the resolver now. Note this isn't done by hosts file any more, the default Win7 hosts file includes both the IPv6 and IPv4 loopback addresses but they are commented out as follows. If on the other hand you 'ping' localhost then the Windows resolver is used which will resolve localhost to a loopback address without needing to forward to a DNS server.

* .nz can't find localhost: Non-existent domainĭont think W7 comes with a default hosts file?nslookup won't resolve localhost because it is bypassing the Windows DNS resolver and querying the primary name server directly.
